WHAT IS WBTrader?
WBTrader is a Windows application that brings together most of the pages of the Westpac Broking (Australia) website onto a single desktop window.
You can customise the window to include watch lists, market depth, last 10 trades, trade history, indices, announcements, charts, your current and past orders, and place new orders.
Originally I wrote WBTrader for myself as I wanted a live trading application similar to Commsec Pro Trader or Power E*trade but without having to pay a fee or perform a minimum number of trades.
I was already a Westpac Broking client so I wrote an application in Visual Basic 6 to access the Westpac website, extract the data and display it in a more compact form on a single page, and refresh the data automatically.
The application has been refined over the last year and I decided to make it freely available to others in a similar situation.
The software is available only on the condition that you use it at your own risk. I will not be responsible for loss you might suffer as a result of using it.
HOW DOES WBTrader WORK?
WBTrader simply accesses the same pages that you would normally view through the Westpac website and extracts the data for display in the application's own windows.
It uses https (secure) to connect to Westpac just the same as in a browser window.
WHY IS WBTrader FREE?
WBTrader is free because I wrote it primarily to use myself.
It does have small text advertisements displayed on the status bar which you can click on if you are interested.
